About Us

Our Mission

To serve the greater Fort Wayne metropolitan area and surrounding counties, including; Whitley, Huntington, Wells, Adams, Noble, and DeKalb, by raising funds and contributing to agencies involved in and dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect and to counseling and treating abused children and their families.

Greetings;

As the Fort Wayne Children's Foundation Co-Founding Chairman I can share since 1994 this has been a journey filled with favorable results! We have helped fund agencies and programs that have made a positive impact on the lives of countless innocent children and families. We have made a difference and wish to build upon our accomplishments and look with much optimism towards the future.

The Fort Wayne Children's Foundation is a 509(a) (1) publicly-supported entity. Our fund-raising efforts are through ongoing charitable giving, as well as proceeds from our annual Charity Event, held in the fall of each year. Our goal is to establish a corpus of funds that will remain intact, allowing us to continually fund our endeavors in helping prevent child abuse in perpetuity.

We have supported various organizations, and annually reevaluate their effectivenesss for future funding. Our hope is to break the ravages of what we call the "circle of abuse," enabling children to help achieve their fullest potential.

Our Foundation is unique in several ways. In a typical year, approximately 50% of our funds raised from our annual event are distributed in the community via grants, while the other half is being added to increase the corpus of the Foundation. We have no paid staff. The entire board is volunteer, and our vendors providing services for the Foundation are asked to embrace our vision by keeping their fees at reduced levels. This is truly a labor of love, and persons involved volunteer their time, talent, and expertise.

We invite you to explore this new website, and you will find more detailed information on the many aspects of our work. Please consider supporting our cause to help prevent child abuse.

Sincerely,

 Byron R. Braun, Co-Founder, Vice-Chairman, Fort Wayne Children's Foundation, Inc.
